Petumi is a pet care app for families. This policy explains what we collect when you use the Petumi app and petumi.app, how we use it, and the choices you have. Petumi is provided by its developer, as listed on the App Store and Google Play (“we”, “us”).
If you have questions, email support@petumi.app.
What we collect
Things you give us
- Account. Petumi starts with an anonymous account, so you don’t need to sign up. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the identifier, name and email address they share with us (Apple may give a private relay address). If you sign in with email, we keep that email address.
- Family and profile. The name, photo, short intro and nickname you use in your family, and the images you pick for your home screen.
- Pets. Name, species, breed, sex, birthday, gotcha day, neutered status, photos, notes, and whether a pet has passed away or been rehomed.
- Care records. Logs (such as meals, walks, weight and vet visits), reminders, and the photos you attach.
- Chat. Messages, photos and videos you send in your family chat.
- AI creations. Photos and prompts you use to generate images or videos, and the results.
- Feedback you send us from the app or by email.
- Waitlist. If you join the waitlist on petumi.app, your email address and whether you use iPhone or Android. We use it only to tell you when Petumi is available on your phone.
When you add a photo, the app re-encodes it before upload, which removes location and other EXIF metadata.
Things collected automatically
- Device and app info: language, platform, time zone, app version and a push notification token.
- Diagnostics: crash reports and performance data.
- Usage: which features you use and when, so we can understand what’s working.
- Security signals: IP address, used to limit repeated failed attempts (such as entering invite codes) and to prevent abuse.
Purchases
Subscriptions and credit packs are sold through the App Store or Google Play. We receive the purchase status and transaction records; we never see your card or payment details.
How we use it
- To run Petumi: sync your family’s data across devices, send reminders and notifications, and show each member what the family has recorded.
- To power AI features: turning chat messages into logs and reminders, letting your pet reply in chat, and generating images and videos (see below).
- To manage subscriptions and credits.
- To keep Petumi secure and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To fix bugs, understand usage and improve the app.
- To respond to you when you contact us.
We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t use your content to train AI models.
AI features
Petumi uses third-party AI providers. We send them only what a task needs. That can include the names you use in Petumi, such as your pets’ names, your family’s name and members’ nicknames, but never your email address, sign-in details or payment information.
- Chat. When the Helper or your pet replies, the relevant messages, any chat photos it needs to look at, and your pets’ and family’s details are sent through OpenRouter to a language model. We have zero data retention turned on, so requests are only routed to model providers that don’t store or train on them.
- Image and video generation. The photos, prompt and pet names for a generation are sent to kie.ai or fal.ai. We copy the result to our own storage right away. These providers may keep inputs and results for a limited time under their own terms, and kie.ai’s terms allow it to use submitted content to improve its services. Only use generation with photos you’re comfortable sharing this way.
AI can make mistakes. Check what it records, and tap any card in the chat to fix it.
Who we share it with
- Your family. Everything in a family — pets, logs, reminders, chat, memories and creations — is visible to all of its current members. People who leave or are removed lose access.
- Service providers that process data for us to run Petumi:
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, sign-in and real-time sync |
| Cloudflare | Servers and photo and video storage |
| OpenRouter and the model providers it routes to | AI chat |
| kie.ai, fal.ai | AI image and video generation |
| Sentry | Crash and error reports |
| PostHog | Product usage analytics |
| Resend | Sign-in codes and account emails |
| Apple, Google | Sign-in, purchases and notifications |
- Legal reasons. If required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users, the public or us.
- Business transfers. If Petumi is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of it. We’ll tell you before it becomes subject to a different policy.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active.
- When you delete a log, reminder, photo or video, it disappears for everyone right away. The underlying file may stay in our storage until your family is deleted; email us if you want it removed sooner.
- When you delete your account, we delete your account and profile 30 days later, so you can sign back in and restore it if you change your mind. If you were the only member of your family, the whole family is deleted with it. If others remain, the records you added to the family’s shared history stay with the family, shown as from a deleted user, unless you delete them first.
- We keep purchase records as long as we need them for accounting, tax and legal obligations.
Your choices
- Access, correct or delete. You can edit or delete most information in the app. To delete your account, see Delete your account. For a copy of your data or anything else, email us.
- Notifications. Turn message and mention notifications on or off in the app, or in your device settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, such as to object to or restrict certain processing, to data portability, or to complain to your local data protection authority. Email us to use any of them; we’ll respond within the time required by law.
Children
Petumi is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Where we process data
We and our providers process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, photos and videos are served through short-lived links, and every request is checked against the family you belong to. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Changes
We’ll update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll let you know in the app before it takes effect.
